The most important meal of the day doesn’t have to be a complicated affair. For the best breakfast in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, pull up a seat at one of these restaurants and get your day off to a great start. From huevos rancheros and chilaquiles to sweet bread and a coffee, here are all our favorite breakfast and brunch spots in town.
Fredys Tucan
Bright, airy, spacious, and colorful atmosphere with great breakfast food. There are lots of choices including gluten-free and vegetarian. You know it’s good when there are lines! Go early (before 9) if you want to avoid the wait.

El Andariego
The exterior is beautiful, covered in colorful Buganvilias. The interior is full of traditional wall murals and comfortable seating. The menu is extensive and is in both Spanish and English with all the Mexican breakfast classics. Omelets are huge and fluffy, eggs well made, and the bacon crispy good. The coffee is great and the fruit is also very fresh! Most of the staff speak great English, prices are quite affordable, and the portions are large!

Coco’s Kitchen
One of the best courtyards in the Romantic Zone, Coco’s serves up a delicious breakfast. The food is very reasonably priced and never disappoints, but what I love the most is the laid back, airy atmosphere of the place. It always feels comfortably cool even on the warmest of days. There is often a wait to be seated during high season.

Mr. Cream
If you’re too skinny, this is the place for you. If not, come anyway. It’s too delicious to miss. There is usually a wait, but it has never taken us more than 20 minutes to get a table. There is so much on the menu that there is something for everyone. There are Mexican dishes such as chilaquiles or huevos rancheros as well as International fare like pancakes and waffles.

Luna Luna
Although this is breakfast restaurant is not technically in Puerto Vallarta, it is my all-time favorite. I’ve been coming here for the past 15 years with my family, and it is still my favorite breakfast spot in the area… maybe my favorite in the whole world. Don’t leave town without trying their Huevos Rancheros or their Plantain Sopes. The Enchiladas Suizas are cheesy, crispy, and delicious. Their chorizo is also homemade, so any dish with this ingredient is delicious. It is located right in front of MaraVilla Nayarit.
