Human Connections is a non-profit that connects local people with international audiences through travel programs and curated experiences. Their objective is to channel resources into the local community while giving visitors a deeper understanding of Mexico. As it is registered as a U.S. 501(c)(3), 100% of any donations you make would be tax-deductible (make a donation here).
They offer great internships where students learn about nonprofit management and collaborate with local artisans, business owners, and entrepreneurs as a consultant.
Human Connections‘ two most popular tours include:
- Explore Bucerias’ less-explored neighborhoods to engage with families of local artisans in their homes and workshops. Hear their stories, see their process and end the morning with a delicious local meal.
- Go on an excursion through the agricultural heartland to meet and engage with the families of local entrepreneurs. Past tours have included visits to a ceramics workshop, a walk through a tropical orchard, or a beekeeping lesson. The experience ends with a delicious meal and a hands-on activity.
