Best Breakfast, Brunch, & Coffee in Bucerias, Mexico

The most important meal of the day doesn’t have to be a complicated affair. For the best breakfast in Bucerias, Mexico, pull up a seat at one of these restaurants and get your day off to a great start. From huevos rancheros and chilaquiles to sweet bread and a coffee, here are all our favorite breakfast and brunch spots in town.

Luna Luna

I’ve been coming here for the past 15 years with my family, and it is still my favorite breakfast in Bucerias… maybe my favorite in the whole world. Don’t leave town without trying their Huevos Rancheros or their Plantain Sopes. The Enchiladas Suizas are cheesy, crispy, and delicious. Their chorizo is also homemade, so any dish with this ingredient is delicious. It is located right in front of MaraVilla Nayarit.

Los Dorados de Villa Birria

Birria is a sweet, sour, slightly spicy, and savory breakfast stew that’s slow-cooked until the meat is tender and fall-apart juicy. The dish is traditionally made from goat meat but now it is more commonly found with beef. Preparation techniques vary, but the meat is marinated in an adobo made of vinegar, dried chiles, herbs, and spices before being cooked in a broth. It is then served with corn tortillas, onion, cilantro, and lime.

This place is my favorite Birrieria in Bucerias, and they offer tacos, tacos with cheese, or the stew. I usually order the stew and a crispy taco OR 3 crispy tacos with cheese with a side of the broth. They also have many different salsa options to choose from, so try them all until you find your favorite one!

El Cafe de Bucerias

Adorable cafe with delicious breakfast options (try the mole chilaquiles or enchiladas) and bottomless coffee. The portions are quite large and well priced as it is frequented by both locals and international visitors. It is part of the Refugio del Mar so their staff is bilingual. It also has wifi & air conditioning.

They have great weekly specials:

  • Monday: Cake & Coffee for $79
  • Tuesday: 2×1 frappes & smoothies
  • Wednesday: Egg Burrito and juice for $85
  • Thursday: 2×1 Pizzas
  • Friday: Crepes and a frappe for $126
  • Saturday: Hamburgers – buy one get one half off (12 pm to 9 pm)
  • Sunday: Chilaquiles and orange juice or coffee for $99 (8 am to 1 pm)

El Cafe de Bucerias Breakfast: Enmoladas with Chicken

Panquekis House

They have healthy choices as well as hearty items on the menu. Freshly-squeezed juices and smoothies are available as well as a good assortment of coffees and teas. Friendly, English-fluent staff make ordering very easy, and the menu is also available in English.

Their coffee is bottomless and there is two options:

  1. Americano
  2. Cafe de Olla: Mexican spiced coffee with raw cane sugar (piloncillo), cinnamon, and cloves

My wife swears it is the best french toast she’s ever had. Our favorite dishes here are the Mexican Omelet (with chilaquiles), the sweet potato pancakes, and the “Desayuno del Lic” which is their version of Eggs Florentine. The chilaquiles with shrimp or arrachera are also delicious!

El Brujo

An ideal spot for a delicious beachfront breakfast with a splendid view of the ocean and relaxing background music. We’ve never been disappointed all the times we’ve gone there, be it for breakfast or dinner. I always order the Huevos Greñudos (shown in the picture below, on the top left).

Mr. Cream

If you’re too skinny, this is the place for you. If not, go anyway. There is usually a wait, but it has never taken us more than 15 minutes to get a table. There is so much on the menu that there is something for everyone. There are Mexican dishes such as chilaquiles, machaca, enfrijoladas, and huevos rancheros as well as dishes like pancakes and waffles. Their drink menu is also very extensive, including freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, and coffee.

Don Chonito

Not sure if this counts as a breakfast restaurant, but you can order sweet bread for home delivery. They show up in a truck with a large variety of sweet bread and you can choose your favorites right there in the moment. My favorites are the polvoron cookies and the flan!

What we do is we order the sweet bread the night before, and that way you can have coffee and sweet bread for breakfast!
