In Mexico, you are responsible for paying Predial property tax at the beginning of each year. Property taxes are relatively low, especially when compared to most other countries. It is based on the catastral value of the property (which is typically lower than the property’s resale value).
You will not receive a bill in the mail, which means you must set a reminder on your calendar to pay each year. You’ll need your Cuenta Catastral which is your property tax number that you will provide to the municipal property tax authority to obtain your yearly Property Tax Assessment. Confirm that the property location, title deed name, and your Cuenta Catastral all match before paying.
