Bucerias is the 2nd largest town in the bay (after Puerto Vallarta), and it is home to the longest stretch of beach in the bay. Although it has been improving over the years, real estate is still not very regulated in Mexico. Everyone seems to know someone that has a property for sale, so a lot of people think they can just flip a switch and become a Bucerias real estate agent. There is also a specific process to buy a property as a foreigner in Mexico, so you’ll want someone who can help navigate all the bureaucracy.

Before you decide to come down and start looking around, get familiar with the pros and any cons of the many different neighborhoods in the area. Do a little research of the price ranges for different sorts of condos, beach homes, or land (depending on what you are looking for).
